Activision has confirmed major changes to the “Carry Forward” feature in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, set for release on November 14, 2025. Previously, players could transfer many in-game items, including operator skins and weapons, from Black Ops 6 to the new title. Following community feedback, the developers have decided to restrict the transfer to select items only.

Players will be able to carry forward Double XP tokens and Zombies GobbleGums into Black Ops 7. These items are considered progression tools, and their transfer ensures that players’ time and effort in Black Ops 6 are recognized in the new game. However, operator skins, weapons, and other cosmetic items from Black Ops 6 will not carry over. This decision is intended to maintain a consistent and authentic aesthetic aligned with the game’s setting. According to the official community update, Black Ops 7 needs to feel “authentic to Call of Duty and its setting,” emphasizing a grounded visual approach.

The changes apply specifically to Black Ops 7. Call of Duty: Warzone will continue to support content transfers from Black Ops 6, including operators, weapons, and weapon blueprints, with integration expected to begin alongside Warzone Season One, coinciding with the release of Black Ops 7.

The community reaction has been mixed. Some players expressed disappointment over the loss of purchased cosmetic items, while others welcomed the move, appreciating the return to a more realistic aesthetic reminiscent of earlier Black Ops titles. The developers have acknowledged the feedback and remain committed to delivering a cohesive and immersive experience in Black Ops 7.

As the release date approaches, additional details on Black Ops 7’s multiplayer modes, campaign updates, and Zombies content are expected. Players can anticipate a more focused and authentic Call of Duty experience, with an emphasis on thematic consistency and responsiveness to player feedback.
